Classic Steamed Mussels with Basmati White Rice

INGREDIENTS
- 1 Cup Della Basmati White Rice
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 4 large garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 small red onion
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1-2 lbs mussels
- 1 cup chicken
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Cook the Della Basmati White Rice the way the package says. While it’s cooking, get your veggies, herb and lemon ready.

In a big cooking pot, heat some extra virgin olive oil over medium-high heat until it starts to shimmer. Add the garlic, salt, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and chopped red onion. Stir everything with a wooden spoon and cook until it smells really good—this means the garlic and spices are releasing their flavors.

Next, add the mussels and gently stir them around in the pot. Pour in the broth and white wine, then cover the pot with a lid. Let everything steam over medium-high heat for about 5 to 6 minutes, or until the mussels open up.
