Brown Rice
Originally grown in India or Pakistan, Basmati rice gained popularity because of its fragrance and flavor.
During milling, the husk is removed, producing enhanced aromatic rice with a subtle nutty flavor. Cooking Instructions
Stovetop
- Measure 2 and 1/2 cups of water into a saucepan with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil. Add 1-2 tsp of butter or olive oil (optional). Salt to taste.
- Stir in 1 cup of Brown Basmati Rice.
- Cover saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Lower the heat and simmer for 3540 minutes or until the rice is tender and all of the water is absorbed. Remove from the heat and allow to sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
A rice cooker may be used with one cup of rice to 2 ½ to 3 cups of water depending on your rice cooker.
Yields approximately 3 cups of fluffy White Basmati Rice.
For softer rice, use more water. For firmer rice, use less water.
