White Basmati [an aromatic grain]
Originally grown in India or Pakistan, Basmati rice has gained popularity because of its fragrance and flavor. Della White Basmati is smooth, even in texture and simple to prepare. Perfect for sweet and savory dishes, use Basmati rice in pilafs, stir fry, or desserts.
- Measure 2 cups of water into a saucepan with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil. Add 1-2 tsp of butter or olive oil (optional). Salt to taste.
- Stir in 1 cup of White Basmati Rice.
- Cover saucepan with a tight fitting lid. Lower the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and all of the water is absorbed. Remove from the heat and allow to sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
A rice cooker may be used with the same rice-to-water ratio.
Yields approximately 3 cups of fluffy White Basmati Rice.
For softer rice, use more water. For firmer rice, use less water.
